Charity of the Year announced

Craigie’s Farm Deli and Cafe at South Queensferry has announced which charity it will be supporting over the coming year, after a tough decision-making process.
“It’s Good 2 Give” was founded in 2010 by Lynne McNicoll and helps local young people with cancer. They supply nutritional snacks on a weekly basis to the local oncology ward and organise practical and fun workshops for young cancer patients and their families. The charity has been chosen because of its close links to nutritional snacks and the way in which Craigie’s can contribute to its aims and objectives as well as its fundraising.
In just over a year It’s Good 2 Give has raised over £100,000 but aims to reach the £1m mark over coming years in order to build a retreat house for families to take a much needed break together. The charity runs entirely on volunteers and so 100 per cent of money raised goes direct to local children.
John Sinclair, who runs Craigie’s with wife Kirsteen, said:
“Kirsteen and I have had a far tougher job than we first thought to decide on a charity for Craigie’s to support over the coming year.
“After much discussion and deliberation we are delighted to support It’s Good 2 Give!’
“We hope that we can support the charity not only by raising funds to help towards the £1m goal, but by also by donating fruit for distribution and by providing days out at Craigie’s to the young patients and families who need a break and a rest.
“I think it’s very important that a local business such as ours contributes something back into the local community as a thank you for the loyal custom of so many people from the area.”
Lynne McNicoll said:
“I am delighted that It's Good 2 Give has been chosen as the first Charity of the Year at Craigie’s and look forward to working with them on events and workshops which are both raising funds for and promoting the work we do.”
