GROWING RELATIONSHIPS

The Edinburgh Drylaw Neighbourhood Centre will be coming along to Craigie’s Farm on Tuesday 14th February for a Valentine’s celebration with a difference!  Volunteers from the Centre are coming along to plant a windbreak of trees to help protect a Heritage Apple Orchard which will be getting planted later this month.

Thomas Brown, Youth Development Worker with the Drylaw Centre, says:

“This is a great opportunity to expose both adults and kids to a new environment.  The opportunities from such a project helps us understand how our food is produced, this is education at its best!  This will hopefully lead to lots of further opportunities to expand on the relationship between the community of Drylaw and Craigie’s.”

John Sinclair, who runs Craigie’s, says:

“One of the biggest challenges faced by farmers is the lack of understand of what we do.  Looking after the countryside is just as important as growing crops.  We are really excited to be developing links with our local communities as this gives us the opportunity to let our neighbours see what we do, and show them that we love them!”
